Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 12 oz. can/bottle good beer

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325.
  2. In a large bowl, blend the flour and the sugar. Quickly mix in beer. Put the mixture into a greased 9 X5 -inch loaf pan.
  3. Wet your fingers, and smooth the top.
  4. Bake for 1 hour or until golden brown.
  5. Brush the top of the bread with melted butter.
  6. BTW, for those who can't find or who are out of self-rising flour: 1 cup all-purpose flour + 1/2 teaspoon salt + 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder = 1 cup self-rising flour. Simply stir or sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Presto, you've got self-rising flour!
