Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp soda , sprinkled over dates
  • 1 cup boiling water , poured over dates and soda
  • 2 tbsp crisco
  • 2 unbeaten eggs
  • 2 medium bananas, mashed
  • 2-1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. In large bowl cream sugar and shortening
  2. Add eggs, beat
  3. Then add date mixture as listed in ingredients and bananas
  4. Then add dry ingredients
  5. Mix thoroughly
  6. Pour into a large greased loaf pan
  7. Bake at 350 (or 375) degrees until loaf pulls away from pan
  8. Do not overcook
  9. May add nuts of your choice
