  1. Melt butter in a heavy saucepan; add rice and next 4 ingredients, and saute 3 minutes (do not brown). Add broth and bay leaf; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 15 minutes or until liquid is absorbed. Discard bay leaf, and serve with desired condiments.
