Ingredients:

  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 1/4 cups cold water

Directions:

  1. In saucepan mix baking soda and cornstarch together blending well.
  2. Add cold water and mix well until mixture is smooth.
  3. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute until it has the consistency of mashed potatoes.
  4. Spoon out onto a plate, cover with a damp cloth and allow to cool.
  5. Knead dough and roll out on wax paper.
  6. Cut out designs with cookie cutter or shape by hand.
  7. Poke small hole in top with straw so it can be hung.
  8. Let dry until hard, 1-2 days.
  9. Paint ornament with Tempra or water colors.
  10. Let dry and coat with clear shellac.
