Ingredients:

  • 1 (200 g) package mr. christie's chocolate wafers, finely crushed
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
  • 2 squares baker's semisweet chocolate, melted
  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 (85 g) package jell-o strawberry jelly powder
  • 1 (7 g) envelope unflavored gelatin
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 4 squares baker's semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter or 2 tbsp margarine

Directions:

  1. Combine chocolate wafer crumbs, 1/2 cup sugar and melted butter. Add melted chocolate and sour cream; stir into crumbs. Press onto bottom of 9-inch square baking pan; chill.
  2. Dissolve jelly powder in 3/4 cup boiling water; stir in 1/2 cup cold water. Pour over crumb layer; refrigerate until set.
  3. Combine gelatin and 1 cup sugar in saucepan. Add water and heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil and boil gently, uncovered without stirring, for 6 minutes. Remove from heat, add vanilla and cool slightly. Beat until thick and creamy, about 5 minutes. Spread evenly over strawberry; refrigerate until set.
  4. Melt chocolate with butter and spread over top; cool.
  5. HOW TO: Cut carefully through chocolate, then through remaining layers. Do not press down into layers but use a sawing action to cut.
