Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Melt chips over hot, not boiling, water and remove from heat.
  2. Combine shortening, sugar and egg in a bowl and beat till creamy.
  3. Blend in melted chocolate and corn syrup.
  4. Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.
  5. Stir sifted mixture gradually into chocolate mixture.
  6. Shape into balls using 1 tbs for each.
  7. Roll balls of dough in sugar and place 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  8. Cook in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes.
  9. Let stand for a few minutes before removing from tray.
