Ingredients:

  • 3/4 tsp. cream of tarter
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 4 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. fresh chives or parsley
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 1/4 cup buttermilk

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven 450*
  2. Beat egg and milk together in a small bowl.
  3. In Large bowl combine all dry ingredients except cheese.
  4. Cut in shortening and add cheese.
  5. Make a well in center and add egg mixture.
  6. Dough will be very sticky. Turn out on floured surface fold over gently until no longer stick.
  7. Press out into 1/2 thick square and cut out in Squares or circles with floured biscuit cutter. Prick tops.
  8. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet until lightly browned.
  9. Number of biscuits vary with size of cutters.
