Carmamel Pecan Squares

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4 cups pecan halves ( i use a little more)
  • 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • optional: bag of either milk chocolate or semi-sweet chips

Directions:

  1. Place cake mix in a large bowl. using a pastry blender cut in 1/4 cup butter until the mixture resembles course crumbs
  2. Press into an ungreased 15 x 10'' jelly roll pan
  3. Top with the pecans. gently press into the dough
  4. In a heavy pan combine brown sugar, sugar, 1 cup butter, and honey
  5. Bring to a full boil over medium heat stirring constantly
  6. Boil 3 mins. remove from heat
  7. Stir in cream until well blended
  8. Pour filling over pecans.. ( the nuts will move around )
  9. Bake 350' 17-22 mins or until the entire surface is bubbly
  10. Optional if you are going to put the chocolate chips on wait until it sets up a little then drop on and swirl around
  11. Cool completely then cut
