Butter Toffee Brunch Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups sifted plain flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Butter well and lightly flour 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
  3. Cream butter thoroughly; add sugar gradually beating well after each addition.
  4. Blend in flour and mix well
  5. Remove 1/2 cup of crumb mixture and set aside for topping use
  6. To remainder of mixture, add buttermilk, soda, egg and vanilla.
  7. Beat until completely blended
  8. Pour batter into prepared pan and sprinkle topping evenly over surface.
  9. Bake 35-40 minutes
  10. *Topping*
  11. 6 Heath English Toffee candy bars, crushed
  12. 1/4 cup chopped nuts
  13. 1/2 cup reserved dry ingredients
  14. Finely crush the 6 candy bars.
  15. Mix candy with chopped nuts and reserve 1/2 cup dry mixture
  16. Proceed as directed above
