Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2-1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Cream butter then add sugar and molasses and beat until light.
  2. Add egg and beat well.
  3. Sift dry ingredients together and use a small amount to coat berries.
  4. Add remainder alternately with hot water to first mixture beating until smooth.
  5. Fold in floured blueberries.
  6. Bake in greased and floured rectangular pan at 350 for 35 minutes.
  7. Serve hot or cold with blueberry sauce.
  8. To make sauce combine blueberries, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and bring to boiling point.
  9. Boil 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
