Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Syrup, and salt, beating well. Place over rapidly boiling water and cook, stirring constantly, 5 minutes or until mixture thickens. Stir in walnuts and vanilla. Cream butter in top of a double boiler; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add whipping cream, syrup, and salt, beating well.
  2. Place over rapidly boiling water and cook, stirring constantly, 5 minutes or until mixture thickens. Stir in walnuts and vanilla.
  3. Pour filling into pastry shell. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until set. Cool and serve with whipped cream, if desired.
  4. Note: 3/4 cup chopped hickory nuts may be substituted for chopped walnuts.
