Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Soak gelatin in cold water and set aside.
  2. Scald milk then add sugar and cornstarch and stir until smooth. Add beaten egg yolks then cook in top of a double boiler until thick stir constantly.
  3. Stir in dissolved gelatin.
  4. Divide custard into halves.
  5. Add chocolate and vanilla to one half.
  6. Pour into a baked pie shell.
  7. Cool remaining half of custard.
  8. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar and slowly add 1/2 cup of sugar then blend with cooled custard.
  9. Spread over top of chocolate layer.
  10. Chill in refrigerator.
  11. Whip cream and sweeten with powdered sugar.
  12. Top custard with sweetened whipped cream.
  13. Sprinkle grated chocolate on top of whipped cream.
  14. Chill well before serving.
