Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter or 3/4 cup margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/8 cups buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups mashed bananas

Directions:

  1. Cream butter, add sugar.
  2. Beat in eggs, one at a time.
  3. Sift dry ingredients together, add alternately with buttermilk.
  4. Add vanilla and bananas.
  5. Bake in loaf pans at 350º for 1 hour to 1 hour and 20 minutes or until done.
  6. When done, bread will turn loose from sides of pan and knife inserted in middle will be clean.
