Aunt Erma's Famous Caramel Frosting

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

  1. Melt brown sugar and butter in saucepan.
  2. Stir Constantly; add milk and bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Sift in powdered sugar.
  5. Add vanilla.
  6. Add enough additional milk to make of spreading consistency.
  7. Frost cake quickly as frosting tends to solidify.
