Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Start your oven at 350 degrees.
  2. Mix crumbs with the butter.
  3. Place 1/3 of them in the bottom of greased baking dish.
  4. Pare apples, core, slice thin.
  5. Put half the slices on top of crumbs.
  6. Sprinkle with sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon, rind and half the lemon juice.
  7. Repeat ending with toasted crumbs.
  8. Pour water over it all and bake 45 minutes.
  9. Cool slightly.
  10. Serve with whipped cream, sprinkled with cheddar cheese.
