Ingredients:

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 6 cups bread flour

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, then add the yeast.
  2. When yeast is proofed, mix in salt and oil.
  3. Mix in flour one cup at a time.
  4. Knead dough adding more flour if necessary.
  5. Place in a well oiled bowl and turn dough to coat.
  6. Cover with a damp cloth.
  7. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
  8. Punch dough down.
  9. Knead for a few minutes and divide in half.
  10. Shape into loaves, and place into oiled pans.
  11. Allow to rise until dough has risen 1 inch above the pans.
  12. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes.
