Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 8 tbsp butter or 8 tbsp margarine
  • 3 lbs peaches , about 5
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

Directions:

  1. Heat the oven to 375.
  2. Butter a 9 square baking pan.
  3. Combine the flour, 1/2 cup of the sugar, 1/4 tsp.
  4. Of the nutmeg and the salt.
  5. Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly.
  6. Mix in almonds.
  7. Refrigerate.
  8. Peel the peaches and slice.
  9. Toss sliced peaches with the lemon juice, remaining 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 tsp nutmeg, the cornstarch and almond extract.
  10. Put the peach mixture in the prepared pan and sprinkle crumb topping on top.
  11. Bake until top is golden and juices are bubbling, about 45 minutes.
  12. Serve warm or cold.
