Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tbsp molasses
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp clove
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 dash salt
  • 4 cups flour
  • additional sugar

Directions:

  1. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and molasses.
  2. Stir in spices and soda.
  3. Mix in flour.
  4. Roll into balls the size of walnuts and then in sugar.
  5. Place 2-inches apart on cookie sheets.
  6. Bake in 350° oven for 10-11 minutes until golden brown.
