I've been making these for 30 years! (Yipes!) They are a nice soft cookie. I love them with milk or coffee.
Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups butter
2 large eggs
1 1/2 tablespoons molasses
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon clove
1 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 dash salt
4 teaspoons baking soda
4 cups flour
additional sugar
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and molasses.
2. Stir in spices and soda.
3. Mix in flour.
4. Roll into balls the size of walnuts and then in sugar.
5. Place 2-inches apart on cookie sheets.
6. Bake in 350° oven for 10-11 minutes until golden brown.
