Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. In large mixing bowl,combine flour,brown sugar,and chopped almonds.
  2. Cut in shortening with pastry blender till mixture looks like fine crumbs.
  3. Reserve 1/2 cup for topping.
  4. Press remining mixture into bottom of 13x9x2 inch baking pan.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or till edges are golden.
  6. In another mixing bowl,beat cream cheese,sugar,eggs and almond extract until smooth.
  7. Spread over hot crust.
  8. Return to oven and bake 15 minutes.
  9. Stir jam until smooth,Spread over cream cheese layer.
  10. In small bowl,mix reserved crumb mixture,coconut,and sliced almonds.
  11. Sprinkle over jam layer.
  12. Return to oven and bake about 15 minutes or until topping is golden brown.
  13. Cool in pan on wire rack.
  14. Cover and chill for 3 hours before cutting into bars.
  15. Store in refrigerator.
