Ingredients:

  • 1-1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 package (8 oz) pitted dates (36)
  • 36 walnut halves
  • colored sprinkles (optional)

Directions:

  1. Stir together flour, baking powder and soda; set aside. In
  2. Medium bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat
  3. In egg and vanilla until blended. Stir in flour mixture
  4. Alternately with sour cream until blended. Stuff dates with
  5. Walnut halves; using 2 forks, roll each in dough until well
  6. Covered. Drop 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake in
  7. Preheated 400 degree oven 10 minutes or until golden brown
  8. (cookies will still be soft to touch. Immediately remove to
  9. Racks. When cooled, spread with Easy Icing. Decorate with
  10. Sprinkles. (optional) Store airtight.
  11. EASY ICING: In small bowl stir 2 tablespoons butter, melted, 1
  12. Tablespoon milk, (I use 2 tablespoons lemon juice instead of
  13. Milk), 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 cup confectioners sugar until
  14. Smooth.
  15. * If your dates are chopped, just mash the sticky dates with
  16. Some of the walnuts to form a marble size ball.
