No Fail Easy Challah Egg Bread Bread Machine

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 1/4 cups bread flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 egg

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients ( except second egg and poppy seeds) in bread machine pan.
  2. For dough cycle - use 1 1/2 tsp yeast
  3. For Quick Dough Cycle-.
  4. ( NOT QUICK BREAD) use 2 tsp quick yeast.
  5. Run dough cycle and remove dough.
  6. On floured board shape dough into 3 long rolled pieces.
  7. Braid.
  8. Put braid on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Let rise at least 1 hour.
  10. Beat egg and use paintbrush to paint challah braid.
  11. Sprinkle poppy seeds.
  12. Bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees 20 minutes or more ( until golden brown).
  13. Cool.
