Ingredients:

  • 1 package (18-1/4 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 8 to 10 drops red food coloring
  • 1 tbsp baking cocoa
  • confectioners' sugar , optional

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, oil and eggs; beat on
  2. Low speed for 30 seconds.
  3. Beat on medium for 2 minutes.
  4. Divide batter into......... three.......... equal portions.
  5. Pour one portion into a greased and floured 10-in. fluted tube pan.
  6. Stir red food coloring into another portion;
  7. Carefully spoon into pan.
  8. Stir chocolate syrup and cocoa into remaining batter; carefully
  9. Spoon into pan.
  10. Do not swirl. .............................
  11. Bake at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near
  12. The center comes out clean
  13. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from
  14. The pan to a wire rack to cool completely.
  15. Dust with confectioners'
  16. Sugar if desired.
  17. Yield: 12 servings.
