Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup coffee
  • 2/3 cup sour milk ( add 1 tsp vinegar and milk to fill 2/3 cup)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup cocoa (or to taste)
  • 1/2 cup coffee (or to taste)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Sift together flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and baking soda in a large bowl.
  3. Add 1 stick of margarine, 1/2 c of coffee, and 1/3 c of sour milk to the sifted ingredients.
  4. Stir by hand until mixed.
  5. Add another 1/3 c of sour milk, 2 eggs, and 1 t of vanilla.
  6. Beat 3 or 4 minutes with mixer.
  7. Pour into lightly greased 9x13-inch baking pan.
  8. Bake 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. After cake cools mix together ingredients for the chocolate frosting.
  10. In a large mixing bowl, add the stick of margarine and powdered sugar together and add vanilla, cocoa and coffee to taste.
  11. Spread frosting on top of cooled cake.
