Mom's Best Chewy Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups butter or 1 1/2 cups margarine
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Place chocolate in a heavy duty ziploc bag and smash with meat tenderizer or rolling pin - whatever heavy bludgeoning device you happen to have handy (The chocolate was killed in the kitchen by Col. Mustard with a candlestick ;)).
  3. In a large bowl, combine sugars and butter.
  4. Add vanilla and eggs; blend well.
  5. Add flour, baking soda and salt and mix well.
  6. Stir in the chocolate.
  7. Drop by tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  8. Bake 8-10 minutes, and cool 1 minute before removing to wire racks to cool completely.
