Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Arrange the carrots, potatoes, onions, parsnips and turnip in a single layer in a shallow roasting pan.
  3. Heat the butter and maple syrup in a small saucepan just until the butter is melted, about 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in the rum.
  6. Pour the maple mixture over the vegetables and toss to thoroughly coat.
  7. Sprinkle the vegetables with the salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove the pan from the oven, stir the vegetables, and bake, uncovered, until tender, 20 to 25 minutes longer.
