Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 7 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup water

Directions:

  1. Cream sugar and shortening.
  2. Put baking soda in molasses.
  3. Sift dry ingredients.
  4. Alternate dry ingredients, watter, molasses/soda.
  5. The dough will be sticky! Chill for at least four hours.
  6. Scoop out w/ small ice cream scoop. Use a glass coated in sugar and water to flatten balls.
  7. Bake 375 for 8-12 minutes.
