  1. Saute the kielbasa until it starts to get soft.
  2. Add celery, onion, garlic, saute till the onion turns transparent and the kielbasa starts to brown.
  3. Add beans and their liquid, chicken and its liquid, pepper, pepper flakes, and thyme and cumin. stir to coat, saute for about 2 minutes.
  4. Add liquid, rice, and season salt.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for about 45 minutes till rice is tender and liquid is almost gone. stir frequently to prevent sticking, and add more liquid if it looks too dry before the rice is cooked.
