Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup. butter (stick)
  • 1/2 cup. shortening
  • 1/2 cup. powdered sugar
  • 2 1/2 cup. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 cup. nuts

Directions:

  1. Cream shortening, and sugar and cream well.
  2. Add salt and flavoring.
  3. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Sift flour then measure and add all at once to creamed mixture.
  5. Add nuts, working with hands until dough sticks together.
  6. Form 3 balls and color 1 green and 1 pink.
  7. Chill dough.
  8. Form into balls 1 inch in diameter.
  9. Place about 2 inches apart on heavy, lightly greased baking sheet.
  10. Bake in moderate oven 400 degrees about 14 to 17 minutes.
  11. While cookies are still warm roll in powdered sugar.
  12. Roll again after cookies are cold.
  13. Store in container loosely covered.
