Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups quaker oats
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 package dates, chopped
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Mix oats, flour, and baking soda.
  2. Add shortening.
  3. Prepare filling by mixing chopped dates, hot water, brown sugar, and vanilla.
  4. Put 1/2 dry mix in a baking pan.
  5. Add filling.
  6. Top with rest of dry mix.
  7. Bake 20 minutes at 350, or until well browned.
