Grandma Bradshaw's Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp yeast
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 4 eggs
  • 7 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 cup cold water

Directions:

  1. Cream together shortening, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add boiling water and stir until mixture is smooth; let cool to lukewarm.
  3. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and add to shortening mixture.
  4. Beat eggs and add to mixture.
  5. Add flour alternately with cold water until dough is well combined and smooth.
  6. Lightly grease top of dough and cover bowl tightly.
  7. Place in refrigerator overnight.
  8. Arrange on greased pans and let raise until double (about 2 hours).
  9. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minute.
