Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups molasses
  • 1 1/2 tbsp vinegar
  • 9 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 3/4 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Cream sugar and shortening.
  2. Add baking soda and molasses.
  3. Add vinegar and eggs.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Add dry ingredients and mix well.
  6. Chill dough thoroughly.
  7. Roll 1/4 inch thick, cut into gingerbread shapes.
  8. Bake 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees.
