Ingredients:

  • 5 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • two packages yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • sift dry ingredients together, cut in shortening. dissolve yeast in warm water; add to milk. add milk mixture to dry ingredients and mix well. turn dough onto floured surface and knead gently several strokes. pat or roll out to desired thickness; cut and place on greased cookie sheet and freeze. if desired, when biscuits are frozen, roll each in melted butter that has been cooled to room temperature. place biscuits in freezer bags or freezer containers. defrost biscuits 30 minutes before baking; bake at 400 f until
  • browned. makes 4 to 5 dozen biscuits.
