Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 dash nutmeg
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1/4 cup bacon drippings or 1/4 cup butter, approx.

Directions:

  1. In a large iron skillet, melt the bacon drippings.
  2. Careful don't let it get too hot.
  3. Place the apples evenly over the bottom and sprinkle them with the lemon juice, followed by the brown sugar, then salt.
  4. Cover and cook over a low heat for 15 min.
  5. Until the apples are tender, yet juicy.
  6. You don't want them dry.
  7. Sprinkle the apple with cinnamon and nutmeg before serving.
