Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Heat oil to 375
  2. In mixing bowl, beat eggs
  3. Add sugar and beat well
  4. Add shortening and mix
  5. Add buttermilk and mix
  6. Sift remaining dry ingredients into another mixing bowl
  7. Add to egg mixture and mix completely together
  8. Roll out onto floured board and cut into 48 doughnuts
  9. Let sit for 10 minutes
  10. Fry and turn over to fry other side when golden brown
  11. Drain on paper towel
