Black Pepper Christmas Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour , sifted
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar , sifted
  • 4 tsp water

Directions:

  1. Sift flour, baking powder and set aside.
  2. Mix the spices into the butter. Blend in the sugar. Beat in the egg.
  3. Stir in the flour mixture.
  4. Chill at least several hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  6. Roll on a lightly floured board to 1/8 inch. Cut with cookie cutter.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly browned around the edges.
  8. Cool and ice.
  9. Store in an air tight container.

  11. Stir water into sugar and mix well.
