Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 pecan halves
  • frosting
  • 2 oz solid baking chocolate
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp butter

Directions:

  1. Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in egg, egg yolk, vanilla and maple flavoring then set aside.
  3. Sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
  4. Add dry ingredients gradually to creamed mixture until you have smooth dough.
  5. Chill 2 hours then shape dough into oval balls.
  6. Place 5 pecan halves in form of turtle feed and head on cookie sheet.
  7. Dip bottoms of dough into egg white then press slightly onto pecan halves.
  8. Bake at 350 for 12 minutes and cool then cover with frosting.
  9. For frosting melt chocolate, milk and butter then beat in powdered sugar until smooth.
