Ingredients:

  • 3 cup flour
  • 1/2 ts each:allspice, nu t
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup currents or raisins
  • 1/3 cup candied citron fruit
  • 2/3 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 cup flour

Directions:

  1. Begin by making the yeast mixture, mixing all ingredients and setting it aside to proof (foam). in a warm place
  2. In another bowl sift flour, salt, spices and sugar.
  3. Add fruits and mix well.
  4. Combine butter and egg and add to yeast mixture.
  5. Then add to flour mixture.
  6. Knead dough on floured surface, 8 to 10 minutes or smooth and elastic.
  7. Add more flour if needed to keep dough from sticking.
  8. Divide into 12 equal pieces and shape into round buns.
  9. Place rolls far apart on greased baking sheet.
  10. Cover lightly and let rise at warm room temperature for 45 minutes or puffed.
  11. Use a sharp knife carefully to make an X shape cut on surface of dough.
  12. Baae in a 425 oven for 20 minutes or golden and tested done
  13. Cool on rack.
  14. Make glaze by bringing ingredients to a boil in small saucepan for 2 minutes.
  15. Brush glaze over buns thickly.
