Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups oats
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Lightly grease cookie sheet.
  3. Beat sugars, shortening, water, egg and vanilla until creamy.
  4. Combine oats, flour, baking soda and 1 teaspoon salt, if desired.
  5. Add to shortening mixture; mix well.
  6. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto prepared cookie sheet.
  7. Bake 12 - 14 minutes or until light golden brown.
  8. Let stand 1 minute before removing to racks to cool.
