Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl.
  2. Add molasses, spices and brandy and mix until combined.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs until they are thick and then beat into butter mixture.
  4. Add cream of tartar and baking soda to flour, then add flour mixture to butter mixture alternately with milk, combining well after each addition.
  5. Grate the colored peel from the orange and add to batter.
  6. Squeeze juice from orange and mix into batter.
  7. Add raisins if desired.
  8. Pour batter into a greased 9 x 13 pan.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  10. Cool slightly then serve.
