Delicious Oatmeal Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp margarine
  • 1 1/2 tbsp dry yeast
  • 5 cups white flour

Directions:

  1. Combine in a large bowl oats, flour, sugar, salt and margarine.
  2. Pour over 2 cups boiling water.
  3. Stir in to combine.
  4. Dissolve 1 package dry yeast in 1/2 cup warm water.
  5. When batter is cooled to lukewarm, add yeast.
  6. Stir in 5 cups white flour.
  7. When dough is stiff enough to handle, turn onto floured board and knead 5-10 minutes.
  8. Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise.
  9. Shape into 2 loves and place in greased pans.
  10. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes.
  11. Brush loaves with margarine.
