Celtic Homemade Mulled Cider

Ingredients:

  • 8 cups apple cider
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  • 1 (6 inch) cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp clove
  • 8 whole cloves
  • cheesecloth

Directions:

  1. In a large saucepan, combine cider, brown sugar, and nutmeg.
  2. Place cinnamon, allspice, and 1 teaspoon of whole cloves in cheesecloth and tie with string.
  3. Add spice bag to cider mixture; bring to boiling. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
  4. Remove spice bag and discard.
  5. Serve cider in mugs with a clove-studded orange wedge in each. Cinnamon sticks also add a decorative touch.
