Mocha Baked Alaska- Divine Dessert

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Prep does no include freezer time
  2. Syrup:
  3. Bring sugar and water to a boil so sugar dissolves and then set aside
  4. For sauce: Microwave coffee granules and cream in 30 second burst until hot and bubbly
  5. Add chips and stir smooth and set aside
  6. Using a large biscuit cutter or bottom of a glass, cut out a large round from each of the the pound cake slices and place on a baking sheet
  7. Brush each round with vanilla syrup
  8. Scoop the ice cream into 4 large scoop and mound a scoop on each slice
  9. Place rounds in freezer
  10. For strawberries:
  11. Toss with orange liquer and sugar and set aside
  12. For sauce:
  13. Place egg whites in a large bowl
  14. In saucepan combine 1/2 cup sugar and the water
  15. Heat till mixture becomes 220F
  16. Then whip whites with eletric mixer with whisk attachment until frothy and slowly add the 1/4 cup sugar until whites reach soft peaks
  17. Continue cooking syrup till it reaches 240F
  18. This should happen when whites are beaten to soft peaks
  19. Slowly pour syrup into whjies with mixer on and beat until whites are thick, light and white and bowl is no longer warm
  20. Remove cakes from freezer
  21. Using a spoon completely cover ice cream and cake with meringue
  22. Heat broiler and brown meringues under broiler about 1 minute
  23. Place mocha sauce on the plates
  24. Remove cakes from baking sheet with spatula and place over the sauce
  25. Garnish sides of plates with the berries
  26. Serve at once!
