Ingredients:

  • 3 1/2 cups grat great northern beans
  • 8 cups water
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/8 cup oleo
  • 3 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 lb bacon , pieces
  • 1 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Bring beans to a boil in water and boil 2 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and let stand 1 hour.
  3. Add onion that has been sauteed in oleo, salt,pepper, bacon and tomatoes; simmer 1 hour or until tender.
  4. Just before serving, add half and half and milk.
