Filled Garlic Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp margarine
  • 1/4 cup onion minced
  • 1/2 clove garlic minced
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp parsley minced
  • 1 tbsp margarine

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl combine yeast, Sugar, 1 t. salt, and 1.5 C. Flour
  2. In a saucepan, combine milk, water, 1/4 C. margarine untiul 110 Deg. F. Add milk mixture and vinegar to the flour mixture and blend at low speed until moistened. Beat at medium for 3 min.
  3. Stir in 1.5 C. of additional flour to form a sticky dough. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead adding 1/2 to 1 C. more flour until dough is smooth and pliable. Place dough in a greased bowl and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume.
  4. Punch down dough and roll into a rectangle shape about 16x8 inches. Preheat oven to 400 Deg. F
  5. In a saucepan heat the onion, garlic, 1/2 t. salt, parsley, and 2 T. margarine until margarine is melted. Spread over the dough rectangle and starting from the 16 inch side roll the dough up tightly like a jelly roll.
  6. Place the bread seam side down onto a greased cookie sheet and let rise until doubled in size.
  7. Bake bread until golden brown for 20-30 min. Brush hot breat with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
