Trim The Tree Butter Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cup. all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cup. powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. almond extractfrosting
  • 1/2 cup. butter softened
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3-4 tsp. milk
  • food coloring

Directions:

  1. In large mixing bowl combine all cookie ingredients. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often until well mixed (3-4 minutes). Divide dough in half.
  2. Heat oven to 375. On lightly floured surface, roll out dough, half at a time; to 1/4 to 1/8 thickness. Cut with 2-3 cookie cutters. Place 1 apart on cookie sheets.
  3. Bake for 6-10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Let stand 1 minute, remove from cookie sheet. Cool completely.
  4. For frosting, in small mixing bowl combine sugar, butter and vanilla. Beat at low speed, adding enough milk and scraping bowl often, until desired spreading consistency (1-2 minutes). If desired color frosting with food coloring. Decorate cookies with frosting. If desired decorate with sprinkles or decorator candies.
