Swirled Strawberry bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries or 1 cup frozen strawberries, mashed ( not in syrup)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Directions:

  1. Make swirl first.
  2. Mix all ingredients together until smooth.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Grease and flour one 9x5 loaf pan.
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  6. Make bread.
  7. Combine dry ingredients.
  8. Combine strawberries, margarine, egg, and water.
  9. Mix strawberry mixture into dry ingredients just till moistened.
  10. Pour all but 2 cups into prepared loaf pan.
  11. Pour cream cheese swirl mixture over strawberry batter,
  12. Top with reserved strawberry batter.
  13. Cut through batter with a knife to create swirl.
  14. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes.
  15. Cool on wire rack for 10 minutes, remove from pan, cool completely befor cutting.
  16. Store tightly wrapped in plastic in refrigerator.
  17. Keeps several months if wrapped well and frozen.
