smoked sausage , cut lengthwise into halves, then cut into 1/2 pieces, dried split peas , sorted and rinsed, carrots, sliced, celery ribs, sliced, onion, chopped, dried marjoram, bay leaf, reduced-sodium chicken broth

onion , coarsly chopped, potato, cut in 1-inch chunks, celery, diced, parsley, minced, carrot , chunked (optional), broth (veggie or chicken), water, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, bay leaves, split peas , sorted over, bratwursts, sliced in 1/2-inch pieces

onion, finely chopped, minced fresh garlic (or to taste), oil (not olive ), dried split green peas, ham bone (make certain that the bone has a fair amount of meat on it), chicken broth, water (for a very thick soup use only 2 cups , you can always add in more during cooking), salt & freshly ground black pepper (i use seasoned ), carrots, peeled and finely diced, bay leaf, frozen peas (optional, add in towards the end of cooking and heat through), cooked rice (or to taste), whipping cream (optional)
