Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 6 medium-size green tomatoes , cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • about 1/8 cup vegetable oil

Directions:

  1. Combine cornmeal, sugar, salt, and pepper; stir well. Dredge tomatoes in cornmeal mixture.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet to 375°; add tomatoes and fry until golden brown on each side. Drain on paper towels.
