Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups pure maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder , or to taste
  • 1/2 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter , cut into pieces

Directions:

  1. In a small heavy saucepan heat maple syrup over moderate heat until hot. Whisk in cocoa powder, butter, and a pinch of salt and simmer, whisking, 1 minute.
  2. Serve syrup warm. The syrup keeps, covered and chilled, 1 week.
